Felt Characters

5th graders created their felt characters by sewing and stuffing.
This lesson was a great opportunity to teach them how to sew buttons on as eyes and other facial features.
Extension- writing a fantasy story about their felt character that explained why he looked the way it did and also to pick a character out of the story and make it out of Crayola model magic.
They are all a big hit!

Viruses

2nd and 3rd graders began as scientist to discover viruses. Then the students put on their aprons and became artists' to create their very own viruses. They all turned out great! There has been so much talk about the difference between a virus and a germ, how to prevent a virus and how important it is to stay out of public places when someone does have a virus. Homeroom teachers have taken the students curiosity a step forward and they are studying viruses next week in science. Yay!
